Lately, there's an outbreak of
Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) . What are the symptoms of (SARS) ? The main symptoms of SARS are high fever (> 38?Celsius), dry cough, shortness of breath or breathing difficulties. Changes in chest X-rays indicative of pneumonia also occur. SARS may be associated with other symptoms, including headache, muscular stiffness, loss of appetite, malaise, confusion, rash and diarrhoea. The number of deaths count is increasing. Hope they will find the source and find a cure sooner.
I read a really good book lately, is called "
Tuesday with Morrie". The title looks ordinary, but is a very insightful book that you shouldn't miss. You'll be surprised! This is also a real story. So, must read it when you've a chance.
I think the world is getting worse...look at the war, diseases, deaths and suffering. People are becoming more selfish and just looking out for their own benefits. In one way...is strange how we're afraid of our own death and yet not afraid of seeing so many deaths? Did we watch too much TV that we've become immuned? lost our senses in some ways? Isn't that a bad thing? We're avoiding or disregarding the bad side of things..we just close our eyes..and hope to see only the good side of things. Just like death...we just avoid it and don't talk about it..and as we grow older..we'll be more lonely and more afraid of it. Also, same as the animals that we've killed for food. Many think that's food...we just enjoy the process of eating it..how good it taste etc.. Same thing here, we are ignoring the whole cruelty process before the meat arrive at our dinner table. So where's our consciousness? Where's our awareness? Are we so immuned? when can we start realizing that we've been shutting our hearts off. We should see things as it is, in order to find the truth and balance in our hearts. May be is time we change the way we see things...may be start seeing with our hearts instead.
That's a buddhist saying goes: " We are dead when we're sleeping and like a drunken person when we are alive", isn't this saying interesting when you seriously think about it. So if we have more wisdom and compassion, wouldn't the world be a better place?
Our lifespan is like the burning candle, before it burns off, we can pass it on to light the life of other candles. So, we can make a difference in this world.
May there be compassion and peace in this world.
With Metta (Sankrit word for loving kindness or compassion)---Mei Chin.
