[MY BOOK] [MY LIFE] [PHOTO ALBUM] [COMMENT] [HELPING OTHERS SITE]

I just called and talked to one of my friend Alice today. I actually met her in the temple a few years ago. She is a very nice and humble lady. She told me alot of her beliefs and some of her life experiences. During these few years, I have seen her changing alot...sign of aging. I felt for her. Today, I talked to her, she said her husband is not feeling well these days. I can feel that she is quite sad and depress at this time. The conversation did not last too long, I can sense that she wants to cut the conversation short....

Her husband, as I call him Uncle, he is getting very weak lately. We use to pay him a visit once in a while and I did play chinese chess with him just a few times. He is indeed really good in Chinese Chess, and he is 80+. She has to take care of Uncle most of the time. Only two of them living in the apartments and their sons and daughters are far away from them.

All these makes me think of all the seniors who are lonely and still thinking when are their love ones going to visit them. Is very sad that this is happening. Sometimes, we're too busy with our own work or life that we have neglected many important people in our lives.

In some point in our life, we're young at heart......and when age is cripping near us...we really can't help it. Who wants to get sick and who wants to get old..so to speak.

Just remember how our parents have taken care of us when we're young. Is time to treasure them when they're still hear. Spend more time with them, show them love, talk to them, spend time with them, so that they will never feel lonely. Most of all, make them part of your life.

Lately, there's an outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) . What are the symptoms of (SARS) ? The main symptoms of SARS are high fever (> 38?Celsius), dry cough, shortness of breath or breathing difficulties. Changes in chest X-rays indicative of pneumonia also occur. SARS may be associated with other symptoms, including headache, muscular stiffness, loss of appetite, malaise, confusion, rash and diarrhoea. The number of deaths count is increasing. Hope they will find the source and find a cure sooner.

I read a really good book lately, is called "Tuesday with Morrie". The title looks ordinary, but is a very insightful book that you shouldn't miss. You'll be surprised! This is also a real story. So, must read it when you've a chance.

I think the world is getting worse...look at the war, diseases, deaths and suffering. People are becoming more selfish and just looking out for their own benefits. In one way...is strange how we're afraid of our own death and yet not afraid of seeing so many deaths? Did we watch too much TV that we've become immuned? lost our senses in some ways? Isn't that a bad thing? We're avoiding or disregarding the bad side of things..we just close our eyes..and hope to see only the good side of things. Just like death...we just avoid it and don't talk about it..and as we grow older..we'll be more lonely and more afraid of it. Also, same as the animals that we've killed for food. Many think that's food...we just enjoy the process of eating it..how good it taste etc.. Same thing here, we are ignoring the whole cruelty process before the meat arrive at our dinner table. So where's our consciousness? Where's our awareness? Are we so immuned? when can we start realizing that we've been shutting our hearts off. We should see things as it is, in order to find the truth and balance in our hearts. May be is time we change the way we see things...may be start seeing with our hearts instead.

That's a buddhist saying goes: " We are dead when we're sleeping and like a drunken person when we are alive", isn't this saying interesting when you seriously think about it. So if we have more wisdom and compassion, wouldn't the world be a better place?

Our lifespan is like the burning candle, before it burns off, we can pass it on to light the life of other candles. So, we can make a difference in this world.

May there be compassion and peace in this world.

Wow! Can't believe time is flying by so quickly. Finally done my tax return!! Of course still have a few things to finalize before I sent in to Revenue Canada.
There's actually a few very affordable source to file your tax return; one is at ufile.ca and another one is via quick tax web. This year I bought the quick tax software, it only cost $15, and you can do tax returns for up to 6 people, if I remember correctly.

O.k..better go sleep..is almost 11pm.

Well, I dreamt of one of my best friend Tanya last night. I haven't heard from her for a long time. I really hope she is doing well. Hope all my other friends are doing well as well. May good health and happiness be with them always, and everyone else in this world.

Another Day Passed by quickly. Work was o.k..nothing to complaint about. I did some reading on CFA, currently on book2. So far, a lot of CFA candidates has picked the Schweser Study Guide. According to other source from some of the CFA candidates, the study Guide is good, but the questions from Schweser still not sufficient to prepare for the CFA exam. However, from other source as well, the practice questions from Shulman Review, Stalla Practice Exam and Allen Resources are pretty good. I really hope to finish book2 and move on to book3, more accounting stuff.

Later, I will meet my colleagues for a vegetarian dinner at 6:30pm, all together 11 of us. We tend to have this kind of vegetarian dinner once in a blue moon. Although I'm the only vegetarian now...I hope they will soon become one too in the near future. Is actually not bad being a vegetarian in this century, you've so many choices out there. The advantages of being a vegetarian are manifolds, besides a more healthy diet, is a great way to cultivate your compassion and determination. I only became a vegetarian in 1996. Can't believe is that long...already 8 years.

Well, going back to my study now. Take care...and signing off now.

Morning Reflection:

This morning was hectic..got up really early at 5:30am and ready for work. On the way to work, I normally have to walk for around 5min, climbing stairs, taking the elevator etc...while up the stairs...I saw two youngsters lying on the floor. I guess they must have slept there overnight. Knowing that the weather is cold..luckly they still have a shelter. I quietly walk by them to avoid waking them up. I wish I had blankets and some food with me at that time. However, I was late for work..so I just continue running at the direction I'm heading towards. While running...I just thought how lucky I am to have warm clothings and food to eat. My heart go to those who are less fortunate and for those who are involved in the war or who are suffering at this very moment. I hope I can do more eventually.

The rest of the day:
Finally, after such a long wait...I'm very excited and happy that I have been added to the ricebowljournal, an asian online journaling community. Member ID 2286 was given to me.

Today, also very happy, cause I got sherry's email. She hasn't write me such a long email..since..don't know when, and is good to share her thoughts and know what she is doing right now. When you miss someone, either your family members or close friends, it feels good when they say they miss you too. So I guess it doesn't hurt to express your feelings out and let them know how much you care about them. I guess everyone has only one life and only one chance to express yourself. I think one of life's greatest lesson is to learn how to care and love the people around you. That's only natural to say you care and you love them. But this culture might not be so accepted all over the world. If this world could be more caring and loving...there wouldn't be so much suffering.
May there be always love and peace in our hearts.
