August 3 Sunday & Aug 4 Monday, 2003.
A very memorable week indeed. I'm glad I have joined my dear friends in this trip to the Rockies. This time, I went to Jasper National Park, something new to me and I had a really good hiking experience with my friends.

This trip, we camp at Whistler Campground located in Jasper National Park, I like its facilities both with washroom and showers near the camp site, and also with free firewood. However, we didn't get to set up campfire this time, because there's a FIRE BAN in the National Park. In fact, some areas of the forest is actually still burning. When we begin our Journey at around 9:15am, we were worried about the delay and blockage caused by the fire. But we're very lucky, on our way there's no blockages, and we arrived safely around 1pm. This is the first time I ever saw so much smoke in the National Park, the area of smoke was near "Pocahontas". it was difficult to breath, oh poor creatures in the forest, I hope the fires would stop soon. The fire actually started in B.C, and the direction of the wind have blowned and spread it to Jasper. On our way back home, there are some areas still burning and I have heard they've evacuated some areas. Hope the fire will end soon!!

I have learned lots in this trip, mainly from my friends loving and caring nature, their sense of humour, their enthusiasm in life, their energy and courage to climb to the very top of the mountain (3hrs of steep climbing challenging a person's limits),and their truthfulness in friendship....so on and so forth....

I like the feeling of going in a group, especially with my very good friends, having chats, laughs, support and special Kodak moment! Is just GREATTTT!!!

We went to Athabasca Falls, a short hike to Five Lakes, Tramway up to Japser Whistler Mountain top and around an hour hike to the very top of the summit. When I went up there, is just breathtaking! I'm just in the middle and surrounded by mountains and so close to it. The area was wide spread and open, the up and down hills of green, flowers and glimpse of wildlife is just so peaceful and natural.

I think the best part of this trip is hiking up Whistler Mountain with my lovely friends, but of course I've enjoyed every moment in this trip...just relaxing and being close to my friends. The small little talk that we did during the very late night was treasurable, it was closeness and magic of friendship that I've felt, these are the special moments.

Special thanks to Quynh who have made this experience possible, memorable and treasurable, Hai for the many laughs and special talk on the way back home and Hannah for the fun time and laughs. Thank you!

Hope all of you will have a chance to go camping and hiking too in the National Park, is a great experience!

Hope many great and nices things come your way and nourishes and enriches your experience in life.

With peace and Metta (Sankrit word of loving kindness) always!---Mei Chin
